Honguo is a short drama platform under Fanqie, formerly known as Fanqie Short Drama. arbbra was involved in the brand's visual design following its rebrand, responsible for the core visual system, brand tone definition, and merchandise design.
Everyone is the lead.
This is not a tagline. It is the platform's most fundamental understanding of what short drama is. The defining difference between short drama and traditional film and television is not length — it is proximity. The stories are closer to ordinary life. The characters feel like people you know. The situations feel like things that could happen to you. Everyone who opens Honguo is not just a viewer. In some meaningful sense, they are finding themselves on screen.
The spotlight is the central element of the entire visual system. A spotlight doesn't illuminate everything equally — it chooses. Whoever it falls on becomes the center of the story. Light descends from above and concentrates at the center, while the edges dissolve naturally at the boundary between light and dark. The intense contrast between illumination and shadow gives every image a quality of stage and ceremony — a dramatic tension that doesn't need to be constructed, only revealed.
The visual language takes a cinematic direction. This decision comes from the brand positioning itself — "protagonist" is a word that belongs to the language of film. It carries its own gravity, its own sense of destiny. Giving the visual system a cinematic quality means every piece of communication becomes less a brand asset and more a frozen moment that belongs to the lead character. Deep tones anchor the weight of the image, making the spotlight appear sharper, more deliberate. The boundary between light and dark is precise and layered.
The merchandise design carries the same sensibility into physical form. The spotlight — as visual symbol — moves off screen and into objects, giving the brand a presence that holds up in the real world. Each piece repeats the same statement through a different medium: this light is real, and it can fall on anyone.
From Fanqie Short Drama to Honguo, the name changed. The promise to the audience did not: every story deserves to be in the light, and everyone deserves to be the one standing in it.
